HANGING OUT WITH FRIENDS

M was supposed to be doing homework
but some of the kids in the neighborhood
were out playing so she joined them.

with their pillow pets.

MOTHER BEAR PROJECT

I made a Mother Bear Project Bear
this weekend for a child with HIV/AIDs.
I was looking for a particular yarn color in my stash
(no, really, I'm not a yarn hoarder)
and couldn't find it
so I just dumped all my yarn on the floor.
I went into another room to get something
and came back to find Little Kitten
like this.

Clearly, she fits her nickname of Pesky.
I can never get mad at her cause
she is
SO cute!

Picture of bear before it is sewn together and stuffed.
I was worried that I had done something wrong
since it looked
more like a robot
than a bear.

My finished bear.
I will send him off to go to Africa tomorrow.

Here is the website, if you want to make one too.
They have a pattern for knit and crochet.

SCHOOL FAIR

M and some her friends went to their school fair.
There were some really interesting booths
such as the bomb squad, fire and police department, and military.
There was also some great games for the kids
so they could win prizes

Sheriff department's helicopter.

M's about to take off.
Hubby wanted to sit in it
but no adults allowed - M thought that was funny.

Can you spot M's little face in the window?

I think Hubby had just as much fun as M.

Slide fun with BFF

Much to the delight of the kids,
the helicopter took off.

Whipped cream and gummy bear eating contest.

A garden club had a booth at the fair
and one of M's friends got to release
a butterfly that had hatched that day.
It was warming it's self up on her nose
before it flew away.

It decided to hang out on her nose for a while.
They had her tilt her head so the sun could reach it better.

The butterfly was quite happy to stay
so one of M's other friends got to hold it

Can you spot the butterfly flying away?
All the girls ran after it
all the way across the field.

BEACH WALK

I went for a walk along the beach.
Before you can get to the path
you have to go down a tOn of stairs.

It was an overcast day
so perfect for a walk

I found an additional path
that overlooked the cliffs
so decided to follow that too...
super pretty views
(although it didn't show up on the pictures since it was kinda foggy)

Part of the path
has these mosaic fish pictures...
love the colors.

M LOVES TO READ

Grandpa bought M a series of ValueTale books.
In the past few days she has really gotten into them.
It is a great set of books
that covers some sort of life value
and talks about a famous person
who demonstrated that value.

In the past few days she has read about
Beethoven, Lucille Ball and Benjamin Franklin.
She will randomly tell me some fact about them
that she learned from the book.

Girl Scout pool party

We began another year of Girl Scouts
and decided to kick off the year with a pool party.
The weather was perfect!

The girls pretty much had the place to themselves.
There was a man who sat down in a deck chair
to relax and listen to his music.
He sat down about 3 minutes
before the girls got in the pool
and left about 3 minutes later...
can you spot him in the pictures.
It was kinda funny
but I did feel bad for him too.

man gets splashed and stares at girls

3 minutes later man leaves

IT'S TOO HOT FOR FOOTED PJS

My theory about M and her
footed pajamas
was proven right last night (see previous post)....
I went to check on her last night
before I went to bed
and this is what I saw.

I teased her about it today
and the funny thing
is that she had no recollection
of taking them half off
or putting them back on.
She didn't even believe me
until I showed the picture as proof.

I tried to get her to wear
cooler PJs tonight
but she wouldn't hear of it.
I am sure all her stuffed animals
probably make her hot too.
I put some of them away
every once and a while
and then when I check on her later that night
they are all back
AND
sometimes even more!

TINKERTOY DRAG RACER

We played with M's giant
Tinkertoy set.
Of course Little Kitten had to be
in on the action.

The beginnings of a drag racer.

Little Kitten (aka Pesky) decided
she would drive it.

Finished...pretty cool.

Can you spot Thomas watching the fun.

PAJAMAS WITH FEET

M has been asking for months
for those pjs with feet on them.
I told her she had to wait until
November for her birthday...
mostly cause I know she would wear them
during the Summer and get all hot.

I finally found some in her size
and of course she wanted to wear them.
It hasn't been hot so I agreed.

It made her seem so young
and of course she looked adorable in them.

She isn't smiling cause
it hurts to smile...
she got braces...
poor thing!!!
The kitty she is holding is from Build a Bear
cause she was so brave about getting braces.
She really didn't complain much
and her mouth is all swollen and she can't eat.
I feel like the worst mom ever
even though she really needs them.

Hubby was showing M
something on the computer.
I thought they looked so cute together so
I snapped a picture of them.

1968 CITROEN DS

Sometimes I think my hubby
never actually grew up...
he is just a boy in a man's body.
He went to walmart
and this is one of the things he came back with.
Why?...I am not sure.

Apparently he thought it was cool.

The back of the box states:
You just received an urgent call!
The lift is broken in the Eiffel Tower
and 20 tourist are trapped.
Your Citroen DS,
with its hydro suspension,
can take sharp corners on the winding
Paris streets and
get you to the scene in no time.
As the city's top engineer,
when you're onsite,
consider the problem solved.

Wonder who is more geeky....
my hubby for buying it
or me for writing about it??
